At the top of the cliffs you could see from the car was a pretty fair-sized draw that was completely hidden from below. That cave was created by water seeping down through a crack in the upper rock, and finding a place that had a slightly higher concentration of salts that dissolved faster than the rock around it. Let's go take a peek, but watch for snakes, scorpions, spiders, and all that other critter stuff.
